the most famous Latham House resident

Now for the story of Ann Margret (the actress) and the old Latham House.
(told by B.J. Mitchell)

A long, long time ago, before there was a Complex, the eight houses were actually separate houses/dorms. Before Latham existed as House 6 in the complex, it was its own entity.

The people of Latham House were very very happy. They could do anything they wanted and the campus police generally left them alone because the Lathamites were fierce and tough. One day a beautiful girl by the name of Ann-Margret Olsson decided to make Latham House her home. The residents there were ecstatic — now they had a beautiful princess to call their own.

Unfortunately, this tale does not have a happy ending. One day the campus authorities came to Latham House (probably reinforced with Chicago riot police) and took the beautiful princess away forever — she had violated the rules by spending *waaay* too much time in what was then an all male dorm.

The end.

PS: Ms. Margret did not take this too seriously. She still supports Northwestern University and we're glad to have her among our alums - she is an example that shows brains and beauty do mix.

This story was told to me back when I was in college at NU. If this is wrong, I'm sorry, I'm just repeating a fairy tale.

If I have impugned Ms. Margret, she can contact me personally and I will publicly apologize to her and on this website. :-)
